March Madness!!!

Round 1                For the first round going down the left side is Kami vs. Flip. Both are great applications for doing school work. Kami is annotating PDFs and doing homework online while Flip is a video discussion board for classrooms. I liked Flip better because of the classroom engagement and it is a fun way for students to express their ideas.                 Edpuzzle vs. Mote is next and both very useful in the classroom. Edpuzzle is for creating a space that teachers can upload videos for a subject for students to look at and mote is cool because teachers can give personalized voice recorded feedback on students projects. I chose edpuzzle because of how versile this application can be in the classroom.  Kahoot vs. Blooket. These can be used as study tools and to check students' understanding. I choose blooket because o...

CHAPTER 7 BLOGGER ASSIGNMENT

Evolution of the Web and its Application in Schools     When I was in elementary school we had a projector that you put a piece of paper under and it would be shown on the board. By upper elementary the teachers had a smart board and we had our own iPads and the school had computer carts for grades to use. Nowadays each student has their own computer and most assignments are online.                                                    90                                                                                               640px-OHP-sch.JPG  ...

Chapter 5 Short Answer

  1. Name one new type of software you discovered in your research most likely to be included in a digital classroom. Tell us about it.     A software I discovered was Kahoot. This platform is for teachers to make quizzes and reviews for students to take and talk about as a class. It takes a poll of what the students answered. Students can also make their own Kahoots for review purposes to share with peers. The teacher is able to see the level of understanding for each student. There is also ghost mode which a student can take the kahoot and later on after learning can compete against themselves so they can personally see the improvement they have made throughout a subject.  2. Identify one new type of administrative software and describe how it can be applied to teaching and learning tasks.     I really like Google Classroom for the versatility of the software. Students are able to have multiple classrooms to access, a main page for ass...

Experiential Learning

Mr. Braaflat's 5th Grade Classroom Learning     Mr. Braaflat's class came in for the day and knew to grab their computers from the cart and go to their desk. He uses Google Classroom to set up information for the day so students know what to expect and ca easily access information anytime. They started with a choice of a video or article on states of matter. The students seemed to enjoy the quiet in the morning and being able to choose how they were going to get an intro into today's subject.  google-classroom-logo.png      After students were done with the article and video he had set up three different stations for the students to observe. He discussed with them the different types of matter and then explained the stations. One had rocks, a pencil, ice, and old play do-oh, the second had juice and water, then the third had balloons to fill up and water with dawn they could mix to blow with a straw to make bubbles. The students got to explore th...

Immersive Tech

Immersive Technology      iCivics Education application is very versatile. I liked how the had an option for teachers, admin, students, and family at home learning. They did a good job of making the layout easy to navigate for all grades preK-12th. This can help teachers with lesson plans for their classroom and students because they go at self paced learning. Students being able to play through real life situations is great for long term learning instead of just a lecture about the subject.  Photo Credits:  Landing-Page-Header-Image-V2.png      In the elementary that I work in I have watched students use DreamBox Math by Discovery Education. This is a computer education that has kids work at their own math level to complete levels to open paths. They are able to earn coins to customize their characters and play mini games as a reward. I have watched kinderagdeners get very involved in the games. They love when they are able to go onto Dream...
