March Madness!!!
Round 1
For the first round going down the left side is Kami vs. Flip. Both are great applications for doing school work. Kami is annotating PDFs and doing homework online while Flip is a video discussion board for classrooms. I liked Flip better because of the classroom engagement and it is a fun way for students to express their ideas.
Edpuzzle vs. Mote is next and both very useful in the classroom. Edpuzzle is for creating a space that teachers can upload videos for a subject for students to look at and mote is cool because teachers can give personalized voice recorded feedback on students projects. I chose edpuzzle because of how versile this application can be in the classroom.
Kahoot vs. Blooket. These can be used as study tools and to check students' understanding. I choose blooket because of the many different studying options. There were more options for student engagement and self paced learning.
Quizizz vs. Gimkit. I liked how Gimkit is playing games with peers. They encourage strategic thinking and not just speed and students can earn money to sabotage peers creating engagement between students.
On the right side we start with Quizlet vs. Nearpod. I choose nearpod because it creates interactive presentations for teachers in the classroom. Quizlet is great and I do use it as a study tool but I feel like Nearpod is great for a classroom environment and to encourage engagement from students.
Pear Deck vs. Book Creator. Book creator is a great tool for students to make their own books and papers with a creative aspect but I choose pear deck because it is a good tool for teachers to check understanding throughout a lesson and make the lesson more engaging and interactive for students.
Screencastify vs. Wakelet are both new applications for me. After some research I chose Wakelet because it is a great tool for teachers to collaborate on lesson plans and organize research for lesson plans. Students are also able to create and make information pages to share with the teacher or peers.
Last ones for round 1 is Canva vs. Adobe Creative Cloud. I chose Canva because of the simplicity of the application. It has a lot of personalization options and templates to help make presentations easily.
Round 2
For the second round of this March Madness we start with Flip vs. Edpuzzle! I choose edpuzzle because of the ability for teachers to make a customizable lesson plan for students to do at their own learning pace.
Blooket vs. Gimkit. I choose Gimkit because I really liked how they value strategic thinking in students and teachers being able to track progress.
Nearpod vs. Peardeck. Both of these are great applications but I liked nearpod because it has more variety in media.
Wakelet vs. Canva. I choose Wakelet because it is great for organizing, sharing, and colabrorating information between teachers and students.
Round 3
For our third round it is getting intense with our final 4! Starting with Edpuzzle vs. Gimkit I choose Gimkit because I think this is a great interactive and engaging way for students to review and teachers to get feedback.
Nearpod vs. Wakelet. I feel that Wakelet is a great application for information but Nearpod is what I went with to make it to the final round. I really like how teachers can make interactive lessons with a variety of media to encourage student engagement.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
Our grand winner today of the 2025 March Madness bracket of applications in the classroom is… Nearpod!!!! Gimkit vs. Nearpod was a tough decision to make but I liked how Nearpod enables teachers to make engaging lesson plans for students and tracks students progress.
